The following are absolute rules and we repeat them on every Quick Note so you'll remember them. Break them at your own risk and the ire of your friends and colleagues in Polymer Science!!

M Do not turn PC off.

MM Do not change any of the program or computer default settings.

MMM NEVER Download anything to the polymer science computers.

The following are currently available, some in various degrees of development. Bear with us! We're working as fast as we can. If you find mistakes or have suggestions on improving these Quick Notes, let us know. If there is a new Quick Note we should put together, tell us and we'll get right on it.

• ChemWindow
  This is the ChemWindow introduction and shows you how to get started drawing chemical structures for your reports and papers.
• HyperChem
  Want to make a molecular model of your compound? Want to find out what the lowest energy conformation and 3D structure look like? Try the HyperChem module!
• Grams32
  You're going to collect lots of spectra in the lab, in the instrumental analysis course and in your research project. This program allows you to work up most of your spectrum in a single format for display, printing and saving for future reference.
• Origin
  This is one of the easiest to use data analysis programs available: you don't need to program anything or work through a steep learning curve. Plug in your lab results, click on a few options and Voilla!, instant graphs with fitted curves and statistical analysis results!
• Photo DSC
  Baseline Calibration.

• Web Searching
  There's an enormous amount of information available on the World-Wide Web; problem is finding it! Here's a concise introduction to searching. But remember, the harder you work at it, the more results you'll get. Go for it!

  Considering designing your own Web page? Click here to find out about the basics of HTML. Soon you will be designing a Web creation all your own.
