Aliphatic polyesters are synthetic analogs of polyamides but have much lower
Tg's and Tm's usually. The l-lactide polymer, however, is highly crystalline and has good
physical properties. It can be thermally processed into various biodegradable products
that compete (largely unsuccessfully) with commercial products with similar properties.
