Heterotactic Polypropyleneoxide
Addition polymer of the epoxide, propyleneoxide
Polypropyleneoxide or PPO is organic-soluble but not water soluble.
It can have molecular weights up into the millions which lead to useful properties.
One important use of PPO is in block copolymers with PEO that are amphiphilic.
These non-ionic surfactants are used in a wide range of commercial products.
The polymer may be made as the heterotactic polymer (shown here) or the stereoregular version.
